My Journey

I come from a simple, middle class family from Pune, Maharashtra. All my education from schooling to college has been done in Pune. Me being the only child to my parents, I always missed the company of a sibling. Since both my parents were working and me having no siblings, it gave me a great opportunity to make friends and socialize. Since childhood, I was surrounded with friends and always wanted to meet new people to extend my connections. This made me fall in love with human nature and realized that every individual is unique.

Working in this field gives me an opportunity to see new faces having new ideas and perceptions and different ideologies.  It gives me  scope for new learnings, broadening my mindset and notions and a new perspective to my own life! Apart from my own development and growth, I look forward to helping my clients attain that, for which they have been battling mountains, some which are within and some that are outside.

Hey, I'm Disha

I believe that every person has the potential to rise above their struggles by finding their own strengths which guide them to live a fruitful and a hopeful life.

That's exactly what I help people do through counselling and workshops for adults, adolescents, couples and organizations.

My Work

After completing my Master’s in Arts in Clinical Psychology from Savitribai Phule Pune University, I pursued a P.G. Diploma in School Psychology from Jnana Prabodhini’s Institute of Psychology. My journey in the field of mental health as a professional started as a school counsellor. Here, I closely interacted with adolescents and tried to understand their emotional, behavioural and psychological concerns.

While I was working here as a mental health professional, I was also an employee of an organisation. This made me realise the need for mental well being awareness and interventions for employees and management at workplace.

I was motivated to extend my services to the organisations and corporates and hence pursued a Diploma in HR Management from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. So all these years have brought me to where I am today, pursuing my dream career and helping individuals to find their own paths to that special place where they wish to reach some day!

My Approach

My approach to therapy follows the principles of unconditional positive regard and empathy. Having done certified courses in Person Centered Therapy and REBT, I use an eclectic approach to therapy. I use mindfulness practices myself and always look forward to introducing them in my therapy sessions and organizational well being sessions.

I believe that every person has the potential to rise above their struggles by finding their own strengths which guide them to live a fruitful and a hopeful life.

Everyday is a rewarding day at work. When a client walks into the room again, you know you have succeeded in creating hope for them for their future. I believe, the more you give to the client in terms of listening, respect, empathy and non-judgement, the more you get back in the form of the client's self acceptance for themselves. To witness this, is a reward in itself!

I've just started a new business but never really imagined that I was experiencing burnout. When I spoke to Disha about it, she made me realise that I was going through burnout and that it was okay to feel this way. I have been practicing the exercises that she has recommended and it's really helping me !
